About the Opportunity
As the Innovation Deployment Manager, you will manage field trials, demonstrations and grower outreach for promising agriculture technologies (‘ag tech’) with the goal of influencing grower adoption. This role will interface directly with our network of research farms and growers to influence the rapid adoption of sustainable technologies. You will support Driscoll's Ag-tech pipeline through trialing, piloting, and demonstrating novel technologies for our berry production systems. You will coordinate the trialing, demonstration and reporting of technologies that improve on-farm efficiency of fertilizer, water, plant health protectants and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to provide actionable insights for the business and our growers. You will help realize the best strategies and insights to improve Driscoll's global environmental impact.Responsibilities
- Coordinate trial design and planning to evaluate the effectiveness of new technologies and innovation in our crops and production systems in California and Baja.
- Assist in the development of Driscoll’s ‘ag tech’ onboarding program management.
- Develop business cases for technology and innovations based on your research to encourage commercial adoption.
- Develop novel & agile technology field demonstration methods to facilitate global replication.
- Act as a resource to research farming and applied research by facilitating relationships between ‘ag tech’ startups and local technicians.
- Act as a representative for Driscoll’s Global R&D sustainable farming department to commercial growers by gaining a deep breadth of knowledge of the latest breakthroughs in sustainable ‘ag tech.’
- Effectively communicate learnings so business decisions can be made promptly to maximize deployment and minimize risk.
- Provide technical stewardship to regional teams around sustainable farming targets and techniques.
Candidate Profile
- Education equivalent to a BS or BA, preferably in the areas of Science, Business, Horticulture, Food Innovation, Marketing, Project MGMT, or a research-related field. Bachelor of Science desired. BA holders will be considered if their professional experience demonstrates an aspiration to continue learning in the research-driven, sustainable agricultural space.
- 3-5 years in production agriculture preferred.
- 1-2 years in research and development preferred.
- Strong coordination skills – the ability to plan, execute, and report field demonstrations of impactful, sustainable technologies in commercial settings.
- Ability to manage work coordination and alignment with collaborative hubs of teams and projects.
- Experience with field research and experimental design required.
- A passion for the environment, climate change, and agriculture.
- Solid oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Ability to organize multiple projects, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be a self-starter.
- Agriculture business and finance experience.
- Be able to work in both a research lab and outdoor field environment.
- Program MGMT Advanced.
- Trial Design Advanced.
- Spanish fluency strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits

The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.
Salary Range estimated for Innovation Deployment Manager: $86,700 to $117,200 USD.
