Strawberry Jalapeno Shooter

Kick up the heat with this strawberry vodka shot spiked with fresh jalapeño. Make the mixture ahead of time for a quick start to your next party! Feel free to wear gloves while slicing the jalapenos.

Ingredients

1 package (16 ounces) Driscoll's Strawberries

2 lime zest strips, divided

Juice of 1 lime

1/2 cup sugar, divided

1/4 cup water

1/4 jalapeno pepper, seeds removed

1/4 cup lemon vodka


Directions

HULL and SLICE in half 1 package (16 ounces) strawberries.

TRANSFER strawberries to a medium saucepan and SET ASIDE.

REMOVE several strips of zest from 1 lime.

ADD 1 strip lime zest to saucepan and reserve the rest.

JUICE lime into saucepan.

ADD 1/4 cup sugar.

ADD 1/4 cup water.

ADD 1/4 of 1 seeded jalapeño pepper.

COOK over medium heat until simmering, about 5 minutes.

ALLOW mixture to cool somewhat.

TRANSFER mixture to a blender and PULSE briefly. Do not over mix.

PRESS mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar and DISCARD solids.

STIR IN 1/4 cup lemon vodka.

PLACE in refrigerator until well chilled.

PLACE remaining 1/4 cup sugar into a shallow dish and SET ASIDE.

RUB rims of shot glasses with remaining lime zest strips.

PLACE rims of shot glasses into sugar and TWIST until rims are lightly coated.

POUR chilled strawberry mixture into prepared glasses and SERVE immediately.
