About the Opportunity
The DOTA Nursery Plant Health Associate will provide support to the DOTA (Driscoll’s of the Americas) Nursery Plant Health and Clean Stock team. The successful candidate will help monitor and manage economically important pests and diseases of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry, conduct and manage trials, update necessary regulatory and internal standards documents, and participate in regulatory audits. The Associate will collaborate with and help team members involved in clean stock, nursery, breeding, and grower support.Responsibilities
• Manage scouts and inspection activities at multiple Nursery locations
• Manage and update the DOTA Nursery disease diagnostic database
• Refine, update, and document Nursery Plant Health best management practices and standard operating procedures
• Ensure Plant Health processes are in place and followed at all DOTA Nursery locations to ensure our plants are free of economically important diseases
• Work in cooperation with company Information Systems and Nursery Systems colleagues to develop tools to handle all record-keeping and reporting tasks related to Nursery Plant Health
• Provide support for Nursery Plant Health research projects, possibly involving novel non-chemical treatments that contribute to more sustainable nursery plant production
• Perform data collection and statistical analysis, summarize research, write reports, and develop presentations, with opportunities to extend learnings to all levels of clientele
• Manage data and write documents and reports on time
• Provide assistance to Clean Stock team members for sample collections at multiple Nursery locations
• Executes other duties as instructed
Candidate Profile
• B.S. degree with 3+ years or Master’s with 1+ year of work experience in Plant Pathology, Entomology, or related field is necessary
• Strong applied field and greenhouse plant pathology and entomology skills are preferred
• Knowledge and experience with molecular tools, Microsoft SharePoint and Tableau are a plus
• Solid experimental design, data collection, and analysis skills
• Knowledge of plants and their cultivation in greenhouses and fields
• Experience in working with diverse cross-cultural teams onsite and remotely
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak and write in English. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
• Domestic and international travel may be required up to 25%
• Travel to Mexico periodically is required
Preferred Qualifications & Leadership Competencies
• The individual should be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of working in a growing company
• Must be able to obtain a California driver’s license and have the ability to be covered under a company-sponsored vehicle insurance program
• A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions may be required
Compensation & Benefits:

The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.
Salary Range estimated for the Plant Health Associate, DOTA Nursery: $76,000 to $97,000 USD.
