Strawberry Jalapeno Shooter

Kick up the heat with this strawberry vodka shot spiked with fresh jalapeño. Make the mixture ahead of time for a quick start to your next party! Feel free to wear gloves while slicing the jalapenos.

Ingredients
- 1 package (16 ounces) Driscoll's Strawberries
- 2 lime zest strips, divided
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 cup sugar, divided
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 jalapeno pepper, seeds removed
- 1/4 cup lemon vodka
Directions
- HULL and SLICE in half 1 package (16 ounces) strawberries.
- TRANSFER strawberries to a medium saucepan and SET ASIDE.
- REMOVE several strips of zest from 1 lime.
- ADD 1 strip lime zest to saucepan and reserve the rest.
- JUICE lime into saucepan.
- ADD 1/4 cup sugar.
- ADD 1/4 cup water.
- ADD 1/4 of 1 seeded jalapeño pepper.
- COOK over medium heat until simmering, about 5 minutes.
- ALLOW mixture to cool somewhat.
- TRANSFER mixture to a blender and PULSE briefly. Do not over mix.
- PRESS mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar and DISCARD solids.
- STIR IN 1/4 cup lemon vodka.
- PLACE in refrigerator until well chilled.
- PLACE remaining 1/4 cup sugar into a shallow dish and SET ASIDE.
- RUB rims of shot glasses with remaining lime zest strips.
- PLACE rims of shot glasses into sugar and TWIST until rims are lightly coated.
- POUR chilled strawberry mixture into prepared glasses and SERVE immediately.
