Strawberry Basil Simple Syrup

This easy to make simple syrup is infused with juicy strawberries and fresh basil. It’s perfect for drizzling on pancakes, swirling into smoothies and oatmeal, or mixing into cocktails!

Ingredients
- 2 Packages (16 ounces each) Driscoll’s Strawberries, trimmed
- 1 - 2 Cup sugar
- 10 - 15 Fresh basil leaves, torn
Directions
- PLACE 2 packages (16 ounces each) strawberries into a juicer, blender, or food processor.
- PROCESS until strawberries are liquified.
- POUR 1 ½ cups strawberry juice into a large measuring cup.
- ALLOW juice to rest until froth rises to the top.
- SKIM OFF froth using a spoon.
- TRANSFER strawberry juice to a saucepan.
- ADD 2 cups sugar (or decrease sugar to 1 cup for a more liquefied syrup).
- ADD 10 – 15 torn basil leaves.
- BRING mixture to a boil over high heat and STIR occasionally.
- REDUCE heat to low and SIMMER 5 minutes.
- STRAIN and DISCARD basil leaves.
- ALLOW syrup to cool to room temperature.
- STORE in refrigerator until needed.
- Pro tip: For a thinner syrup consistency, press the strawberry juice through a cheesecloth before transferring it to the saucepan.
