About the Opportunity

The Regional Manager of Distribution Operations is responsible for the company-owned and operated distribution centers, third-party logistics providers, and grower operations relating to the receiving, packing, cooling, and shipping of fruit and the storage and distribution of plants. He/she will be responsible for managing various priorities in a setting where providing exceptional customer service, preserving berry freshness, and achieving cost reductions are top priorities. You will be responsible for meeting and exceeding department key performance indicator (KPI) targets. This is achieved by creating regional operating plans, developing and implementing best practice processes, developing people, driving cost reduction initiatives, and leading efforts to adopt equipment and technology solutions through change management. Also, the responsibilities will include product line packing, MPS/MRP, and other manufacturing-related processes at specific strategic sites. Ensures facilities under his/her umbrella comply with Good Manufacturing Practices related to Food Safety. Demonstrate an ability to transfer vision into reality. Responsible for implementing Functional Work Group Planning (FWGP) and CPI (Continuous Process Improvement) in Distribution Operations in their assigned region. Travel within their district will be required. (Up to 50%)

Responsibilities

Responsible for multi-location distribution centers and packhouse operations within his/her region

  • Ensures adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and guides process improvement
  • Responsible for the adoption of new technologies with desired processes
  • Ability to meet established and develop new Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across multiple departments
  • Strong daily collaboration with various departments is required (Production, Sales, Transportation, Supply Chain Planning, and Growers)
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding KPI targets:
    • Customers Service
    • Berry Freshness
    • Productivity / Cost Per Unit
    • People Safety
    • Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Uses data, analytical tools, systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies and develops improvement plans to address performance gaps
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting the annual operating plan, tracking, and implementing effective audit controls, and providing explanations for monthly budget variations
  • Improves operational performance and productivity through the implementation of a labor management program
  • Drives cost reduction without compromising customer service and quality
  • Develop short and mid-term initiatives to meet company objectives. This will entail assistance in the planning of building and facility expansion, contract cooling requirements, staffing and equipment requirements
  • Working experience with labor unions and collective bargaining
  • Responsible for maintaining and implementing warehouse safety programs to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and within the regulations of all OSHA local and state regulations
  • Lead and develop DC managers in best practices using collaborative style leadership and coaching
  • Will identify areas for improvement; troubleshoot situations, delegate responsibilities, and monitor results of implementation
  • Assist in the development and support of systems and business processes (warehouse management systems, barcoding, scheduling and appointment processes) 
  • Maintains and upkeeps distribution centers to meet good manufacturing practices and regulatory standards
  • Responsible for facility performance of all internal and external audits (local, state and federal inspections)
  • Nurture, support and promote the company Mission, Vision and Values
  • Follow company policies and practices while representing Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, customers, etc.

Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Must have 7-10 plus years’ experience with Warehousing, Distribution, Logistics and Inventory Systems
  • Familiar with 3PL management
  • Experience in managing a team of business professionals
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to drive change and continuous improvement

  • Ability to communicate at all levels

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted.  The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

Salary Range estimated for the Distribution Regional Manager: $87, 552 to $135,900 USD.
