About the Opportunity

This Agronomy Internship will be a full-time, seasonal internship with strong training and an educational component. Participants will work with Global R&D and agronomists in commercial fields and test plot locations. The focus will be deploying and tracking new insect control methods and scouting for pests and diseases. In this role, time will be spent in Soil and Substrate fields in both conventional and organic systems.

Responsibilities

• •    Collecting data on berry crops (Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry Blueberry).
• •    Regular interaction with agronomy, production department and entomology teams to learn crop cycles and growth measurements, and critical pests and diseases.
• •    Scouts crops for disease and pest pressure.
• •    Regularly and timely communicates with supervisor of any key actionable observations.
• •    Ensures the safe-keeping of Driscoll’s-owned varieties and confidential information.

Candidate Profile

• •    Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in agronomy, entomology, botany or other plant science and agriculture related field
• •    Data collection, analysis and interpretation skills 
• •    Excellent communications skills
• •    Ability to work in field conditions
• •    Ability to travel to production sites independently

Preferred (other) Qualifications

• •    Must be able to operate a Driscoll’s vehicle
• •    Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint
• •    Able to work independently

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted.  The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors. 
The hourly range estimated for this internship is: Freshman to recent grad: $18-$22/Master to PhD: $26-$40
