About the Opportunity

The Credit and Collections Manager develops, administers, and monitors department processes and operations to improve cash flow through alignment with Driscoll’s mission, vision, and values. Manages credit accounts to minimize risk and promote sales; and ensures timely and accurate payments from customers to reduce days sales outstanding (DSO) and minimize bad debt. Manages the Credit and Collections staff performance of their jobs. Ensures that projects and department goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and maintains best practice credit policies and procedures for U.S. and international subsidiaries.  Ensures all policies and procedures are documented.

  • Enforces Driscoll’s Delegation of Authority guidelines to approve or seek higher approval.

  • Manages new and existing customer credit reviews to grant, increase, decrease, and possibly deny/close customer credit accounts upon recommendation of the Credit and Collections team members.

  • Maintains and reports to leadership on metrics on the overall credit, DSO, A/R fluctuation, performance of the collections activities, and allowance for uncollectible.

  • Creates a strategy to improve the collection of outstanding credit.

  • Sets payment collection goals and targets for the department.

  • Oversee the collection of accounts receivable through alignment with credit and collections team and sales leadership.

  • Partners with the leadership of the Sales, Legal Affairs, Transportation, and other internal departments; to find solutions to escalated complex transaction discrepancies or customer behavior concerns.

  • Works closely with the Revenue Accounting Manager to monitor and ensure customers' accurate and timely invoicing.

  • Promotes and practices collaboration and alignment between departments through understanding the evolving customer requirements.

  • Encourages team to use fact-based data and to be prepared to present possible solutions when escalating customer behavior concerns.

  • Oversees audit and ensures the accurate and timely submission of department reporting requirements.

  • Remains informed of PACA/DRC guidelines updates regarding credit and debt collection.

  • Manages internal process improvement projects and helps implement new tools and systems that impact the Credit and Collections department.

  • Responsible for leading activities in collaboration with the Credit and Collections department to accomplish planned growth.

  • Contributes to the Business Unit’s people priorities and objectives regarding: people leader effectiveness, engaged employees, and enabling others to perform.

  • Recruit, onboard, and coach staff to ensure robust learning and career development consistent with the Company’s values and rapidly globalizing profile.

  • Domestic and international travel required up to 5-10%.

  • Represents Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like professional manner in all interactions with growers, co-workers, suppliers, customers and the business community at large.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field.
  • 5+ year’s experience as a Credit and Collections Manager.
  • Experience working with accounting software/ERP/EBA, Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong technical reporting skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
  • The ability to work accurately and independently.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail.
  • Outstanding leadership and managerial skills.
