About the Opportunity

The Grower Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading a critical accounting function for Driscoll’s largest business unit, Driscoll’s of the Americas (DOTA). This role will lead and provide direction to the grower accounting team, to ensure accurate and timely payments to growers and proper accounting of all grower payment settlements. In addition, this role will provide support and analysis to the controllership function during the month and year end close processes. The Grower Accounting Manger will also work in close partnership and collaboration across functional work groups to ensure proper execution including that Growers are paid in accordance to Driscoll’s Enterprise Business Model.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for timely and accurate disbursement to growers in accordance with the Grower Service Agreements as well as any specific details included in each of the grower contracts.
  • Accountable for understanding all the workflows within the Commodity Contract Management (CCM) module in our ERP to properly maintain and execute the weekly settlement to our growers.
  • Leads and provides direction to the grower accounting team on all aspects of grower payments to ensure accuracy and alignment with weekly commitments and troubleshoots any issues that arise.
  • Supports Accounting and Finance objectives, while constantly working towards improving processes and procedures.
  • Provides accounting support and grower settlement customer service to internal departments and growers.
  • Timely completion of assigned period-end and year-end closing tasks.
  • Partners with IT to document processes, identify improvements, test new development and is responsible to troubleshoot CCM issues.
  • Contributes to the Business Unit’s people priorities and objectives regarding: people leader effectiveness, engaged employees, and enabling others to perform.
  • Represents Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like professional manner in all interactions with growers, co-workers, suppliers, customers and the business community at large.

Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of finance experience. The successful candidate will have broad-based accounting experience.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills are vital for success in this role. It requires the ability to establish credibility, build constructive relationships and impact cross-functionally at all levels in the organization. It also requires the ability to synthesize, simplify and present complex information and concepts to non-financial audiences.
  • Developed financial and business analytical skills and attention to detail are required; to understand and interpret business results and plans.
  • Must be knowledgeable in standard business software (MS Office, ERPs) to at least an intermediate level, and with the aptitude to quickly become an advanced user. Microsoft Dynamics and SAP experience preferred. Requires knowledge of business intelligence system.

Preferred Qualifications and Leadership Competencies

  • Bilingual; English/Spanish communication skills desired
  • Process improvement experience is a plus
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally required (Estimated up to 10%)
  • California driver’s license and the ability to be covered under company-sponsored vehicle insurance program are also required
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions are also required
