When you choose Driscoll’s berries, you often have a choice between organic berries and conventional berries. Both are delicious, but what exactly is organic and is it right for you?

Organic farmers nurture the land, conserve water, and nourish the soil without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Driscoll’s organic farmers, for example, use compost and cover crops to help build healthy soil and they rely on crop rotations and beneficial insects to manage pests.

Before our organically grown berries (or any organic product) can be labeled "organic," an approved governmental certifier inspects the farm to make sure the farmer is following all the rules of the National Organic Program, which is operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Here at Driscoll’s, we work closely with our organic farmers to continually find new practices that are good for Mother Earth and that produce great-tasting berries for you, rich with antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber.

Every time you choose Certified Organic berries from Driscoll’s, you are helping to protect the earth for generations to come. When shopping for our organic berries, just look for the green label and the USDA Organic seal.

To see when and where our organic berries are grown, check out our Availability Calendar. And to start the New Year, look for lots of great tasting organic blueberries, which can be readily incorporated into healthy meals and snacks—including weight loss programs.
