Organic Growing
Our Commitment to Organics
As the leader in fresh berries, growing the finest organic berries in the world is both art and science, requiring care, commitment and dedication. Carefully grown and picked, from our hands to yours, you can feel good about our organic strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries for you and your customers. They are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, fiber and great taste!
We take pride in protecting the land for generations to come. Organic farming is good for the environment because it uses practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological balance. Organic techniques manage soil health, weeds and pests naturally, utilizing no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or other prohibited materials. We work closely with our independent organic farmers to find new and innovative organic farming practices.
Good Soil
Our organic berries are grown on small independent farms around the United States, as well as in Mexico and Chile. Organic farming is quite different from conventional farming, in that its primary aim is to produce delicious, nutritious berries while improving and maintaining the health and quality of the soil. With good soil and berry varieties selected for their superiority, chances are high that we’re going to get good berries. But this goal requires a serious commitment of time, energy and resources.
100% Certified Organic
The organic certification process is very specific. No synthetic pesticides or fertilizers can be applied for AT LEAST three years before organic berries (or other organic products) can be planted and these materials are restricted from use during the farming process.
All of our organic berries are 100% certified organic. They are certified by California Certified Organic Farmers and meet all of the requirements of the USDA National Organic Program. Learn more about the Organic Certification process or visit Organic It’s worth it for more information.
Farmers Who Care
The quality of our organic strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries is a direct result of the quality of our farmers. It is their personal devotion and commitment that is translated into the quality you can taste.
Jaime Mendez began growing organic strawberries for Driscoll’s in 2005. He reflected that he likes to grow for Driscoll’s because their standards are the highest in the berry business, so the quality and safety of the berries are second to none. Working with the many different patented varieties of strawberries brings new opportunities to learn and improve farming methods, year after year. Organic farming is important to this berry grower and from his standpoint “organic agriculture is the heritage and the legacy that I want to leave to my children.” Meet Our Farmer Partners and read about what makes their farms unique.
