Something You Can Do

Let’s face it. Life is busy and making healthy choices isn’t always convenient. Trying to figure out what’s best for everyone can be overwhelming.

At Driscoll’s, we’re all about the things we can do. Instead of trying to overhaul everything all at once, we’ve found that making simple changes can have a profound effect on overall health and well-being.

If you’re new to organics or looking for ways to enhance your organic lifestyle, we’ve come up with a number of simple suggestions that you can incorporate as they suit you.

Incorporate Organic Foods

Ensure that you and your family have a positive experience with organic foods by trying these substitutions for some common food items:

  • Try organic dairy products, instead of your usual brand. You’ll find that, if anything, they taste better and no one’s going to notice. Add our organic strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or blackberries to cereal and yogurt to give your family an extra boost of organic goodness.
  • Organic eggs are another simple and easy choice. For an interesting twist, try our Blackberry Brie Omelet.
  • For quick convenience, pick up a prepackaged organic salad mix. Toss with organic raspberries, strawberries, blueberries or blackberries for a healthy and delicious salad. Try our Warm Berry & Spinach Salad with Maple Bacon and Roasted Sweet Potatoes.

Eat Better

Instead of trying to overhaul your entire diet—drastic changes often don’t stick—try making minor substitutions or additions to some of your favorites.

  • Instead of drowning the pancakes, French toast or waffles in butter and maple syrup make fresh organic berry syrup. Another option is to skip the syrup altogether and just top with beautiful fresh berries. For an elegant and delicious breakfast recipe try our Mascarpone Crêpes with Lavender Infused Strawberry Sauce
  • Craving a sweet snack? Have a carton of fresh organic berries on hand—eat them plain or mixed with yogurt and honey.
  • Toss some organic berries into your favorite salad for an extra serving of antioxidants, vitamins, fiber and flavor.
  • Make an organic strawberry, raspberry, blueberry or blackberry ice cream sundae. You’ll get some of the good stuff your body needs, while still indulging in a treat.

Do Some Recycling

Do some recycling! It’ll feel good to go through the closets and cabinets and free up space by getting rid of rarely used items. Check out your local recycling center to find out what and how to recycle common household things, such as batteries, old cleaners and burnt out light bulbs. Enjoy the Beginning of Summer!

You probably don’t need to be given suggestions about enjoying summer, but just in case you find yourself lacking inspiration and are looking for ways to get summer off to a good start…

  • Take a class! Not the sit inside kind of class, but one that gets you outside trying a new activity, like surfing, landscape painting or mountain biking.
  • Get your feet wet by planning a weekend getaway in nature. Visit http://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm to find a national park near you.
  • Nothing says summer more than the barbecue. Fire up your grill and cook outdoors.
  • Relax! Spend a day lazing around in a hammock or lying on a blanket in the grass. Pack a picnic and sit by the ocean or a lake. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine!
